FAQs

Home Defenders Termite & Pest Management Inc

  • What do you charge?

We provide complimentary inspections, but we don't quote prices for specific pest issues since each infestation—and its corresponding solution—is unique to your situation.
  • If your tech comes to my home and I accept his proposal, can he start the job immediately?

This varies depending on the pest. For ants and spiders, our technicians can begin treatment right away. With rodents, we can start trapping immediately, though complete resolution may take several weeks. For cases requiring live traps for animal control or dealing with bats, our team might need a few days before starting. For termite swarms emerging from concrete slab floors, we may require about a week to prepare.
  • Do you guys offer termite inspections?

Currently, we're not conducting termite (wood-destroying organism) inspections specifically for home sales transactions.
  • Do I need a termite inspection when I buy/sell a home?

California state law doesn't mandate home inspections prior to sale. However, some mortgage lenders require termite clearance before approving loans. We recommend consulting with a real estate professional for more specific guidance on your situation.
  • Do we have termites in the mountains?

In our mountain regions, we primarily encounter two termite varieties: subterranean termites that live underground and tunnel upward to homes, and dampwood termites that inhabit moist areas of stumps and logs. It's worth noting that drywood termites, which typically require tent fumigation, are relatively uncommon in our mountain areas.
  • Do carpenter ants eat wood?

Carpenter ants don't actually consume wood. They excavate tunnels in wooden structures to create nesting spaces, as ants aren't capable of digesting wood materials.
  • Can ground squirrels/gophers undermine the foundation of my house?

While I'm not a structural engineer, it's highly improbable that ground squirrels or gophers could compromise your foundation's structural integrity. In my decades of pest management experience, I've never encountered such a case.
  • What is the most destructive pest in the mountains?

Wood rot caused by fungus actually causes more wood damage than all other pests combined in our mountain environments.
  • Do you treat for gophers?

Like all pest management companies, we implement our best strategies for gopher control. However, these creatures are particularly resilient and persistent.
  • Are there brown recluse spiders in the mountains?

No, brown recluse spiders aren't native to California's ecosystem.
